Hi, I am the Eating Monster, also known as Vee, and this wordpress site is dedicated to all the food, whether homemade or eating out.  I am from Taiwan but I am currently studying in Pittsburgh. I have come to love different types of cuisine and appreciate non-Asian food as well as my love for Taiwanese food. If I had to list off my favorite cuisines, I would probably go for French first, then Taiwanese, Japanese, and then possibly American. I like to try new restaurants, new flavors, and new foods because these are experiences that I cannot have in Taiwan. I love being surrounded by the multicultural cuisines that the US has to offer, and I hope travel to many different places to actually taste different cuisines from their home countries one day.

As much as I love food, I do not like cooking. Perhaps it is because I spend much of my time cooking when I’m hungry, but it is something I do out of necessity rather than desire. Also, I am usually on a diet about 80% of my time/life, so I’m not into cooking extravagant foods either. If I’m going to cook, its going to be healthy and quick.

The thing that I have come to love, though, is baking. I love sugar, I love butter, and I love cream, and I love all of it coming together in my baked creations. I am not a fan of super easy recipes, however, so rarely would you see me make a cookie or a quick bread or any of that. I like to spend my time beating egg whites, or kneading bread, or assembling pastries in general. I find it very relaxing and rewarding, especially when people like what I bake.

Please feel free to comment on my blog, or shoot me an e-mail if you have questions or just to say hi. I appreciate people reading my blog and commenting! =)

I came across your site from the SD posts only to find that you’re studying in Pitt. That’s the area I’m originally from! Looks like we have a shared love for Salt of The Earth. I’d be interested to get your thoughts on quite a few other places.

How long are you in SD?

    • I have actually already left SD, and am currently eating my way through New York. =)

I don’t think I have met anyone who doesn’t love Salt of the Earth, haha.

This is true. Looking forward to more of your reports – Root 174, Spoon, Cure, and Tamari are all favorites. The return of Notion is what I’m most excited about for the next time I visit Pitt.

      • I’ve been to spoon once, but the others I’ve only heard of. I’ll be sure to visit once school starts and write what I think about them =)
